Hi, I’m Stephanie, the breeder behind Moonseed Ragdolls, our family cattery in Columbus, Ohio. We are TICA and CFA registered, and my background includes veterinary-field and feline rescue experience. I am also a registered nurse (BSN, RN), mother, and devoted Ragdoll caretaker.
I love helping families picture the companionship ahead. When you ask whether a Ragdoll will fit into life with your children or dog, I want to help you understand the individual kitten, the care behind them, and the home you will build together.

The companionship you are hoping for
Perhaps you are hoping for a kitten who curls into your lap. Perhaps you picture a playful companion for family evenings, or a gentle little shadow who follows you from room to room.
Those details matter to me. I want to know what affection looks like to you, how lively your home feels, and whether your dog has shared a home with cats before.
A beautiful photograph may catch your eye. Learning who that kitten is helps you imagine life together.

Meet each kitten’s personality and affection style
Each kitten listed on our Available Ragdoll Kittens page will have an individual kitten page with their personality assessment and affection style and level.
I will share how that kitten connects with us in everyday life: whether they seek out laps, enjoy being held, follow people around, settle close by, or express their affection through playful interaction.
These profiles will also describe how readily and how often the kitten seeks attention, along with their confidence, energy, and the kind of household that may suit them.
My goal is to help you recognize the companion who feels right for your family. These are observations of each kitten’s developing personality; their comfort and behavior can change as they grow and settle into a new home.
What “well socialized” should tell you
When I describe socialization, I want you to be able to picture the experiences behind that word. Who spends time with the kitten? What have they encountered? How do they respond, and when do they need a little space?
Our kittens are raised within our home, in our carefully constructed kitten rooms that are designed for specific kitten ages, safety, and enrichment. They are tended to daily by two adult caregivers including myself, and our youngest daughter, our often by our adult children and our grandchildren ages 2, 4, and 9.
You are welcome to ask those questions. I want our conversations to leave you feeling informed, comfortable, and excited about the kitten you are considering.

02 · WHERE CONFIDENCE TAKES ROOT
Early Kitten Care, Woven Into Family Life
The first experiences deserve thoughtful care
Research highlights an early sensitive period for socialization, commonly described as roughly two to seven weeks. Positive experiences remain valuable beyond that period; the early weeks are a foundation for continued learning (Hirsch et al., 2026). We begin to handle our kittens from day one of life, every single day until they are placed into their forever homes. This is why Moonseed Ragdolls is well known for their overly-affectionate, loving, flirtatious, playful, confident, velcro-kitty, shadow cats!
For me, that makes the ordinary days of kittenhood feel especially meaningful. The little ones in our care are preparing for lives we have the privilege of helping shape.

Many caring hands, one shared commitment
Our mothers and kittens stay in our home, where our family is part of their daily care. My youngest daughter helps with handling, and visits from our grandchildren bring interaction with children of different ages. Our family dogs are also part of the environment our kittens experience.
Our full-time caregiver supports our adult cats, while mothers and kittens remain with us for everyday family interaction. That arrangement gives us time to notice each kitten’s preferences and developing personality.
When we talk about a possible match, I can share the experiences and responses I have observed in that particular kitten.
WHY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS MATTER
A study published in 2026 surveyed 133 Swedish pedigree-cat breeders. About 93% valued handling by several people, while about 77% reported providing it (Hirsch et al., 2026).
The volunteer survey was conducted in 2021, when pandemic restrictions may have affected opportunities. It cannot describe every breeder. My practical takeaway is simple: ask what a kitten actually experiences, and invite a thoughtful answer.
Room to grow, and room to be themselves
Our published care approach keeps kittens with us until at least 14 weeks, with some staying longer. I value that time for caring for them, observing their personalities, and helping families understand their individual needs.

03 · A NEW PLACE TO BELONG
Bringing Your Ragdoll Home to Children and Dogs
Your kitten arrives with familiar experiences. Your home brings fresh scents, voices, and routines. Give everyone plenty of time to discover one another. When it comes to transitions, slow and steady wins the race.
Begin with a quiet retreat
Prepare a kitten-proof room ( a small safe room such as a bathroom or laundry room) with bedding, a hiding place, food, water, and litter. Keep other pets out while your kitten settles. Expand their world gradually (International Cat Care, 2021). We provide every adopter with a Moonseed Go Home Note and Ragdoll Cat Care Guide PDF that will walk you through how to create a safe room for your kitten. The small safe kitten room is the best way to help your kitten feel safe and secure on it's first few days in it's new home, away from mom and littermates. Hold off on introducing other household pets until AFTER your kitten has had it's first wellness exam with your DVM. We ask that our adopters schedule their new kitten's first veterinary exam within the first 72 hours of bringing your new baby home.
Let children practice gentle friendship
Have children sit on the floor and let the kitten approach, with an adult supervising. Pet briefly, then pause to see whether the kitten seeks more. Support their body when holding them, and let them leave when they wish (International Cat Care, 2021). Let the interaction occur on the kitten's terms at first. This is the best evidenced based approach for early interactions between children and the new kitten. Have children suggest a game of play with a teaser wand, or offer freeze-dried chicken breast treats (we call this kitten crack). I often have my youngest give kittens these treats to help establish a healthy relation to her. She also just naturally enjoys playing with them often with teaser wands.
Give your dog and kitten a gradual introduction
Begin separately, introduce each animal’s scent, and move toward short, controlled meetings. Keep your dog on a lead, prevent chasing, and give your kitten an accessible escape route. Reward calm behavior and separate them when unsupervised until their interactions are reliably safe (International Cat Care, 2021). Even though our kittens are raised in a house with dogs, your dog will be a completely new scent and experience for them. A early hiss does not mean the relationship wont happen. Moonseed Ragdoll kittens and cats are known for being overly-friendly to other house-hold pets, including dogs and existing household cats (even if the existing household cats do not want a relationship!). Have patience.
Please tell me about your dog before choosing a kitten, especially any history of chasing or harming small animals. That information helps us consider whether a pairing is suitable and when individual professional guidance is needed.

Will every Ragdoll be a lap cat?
I would never promise the same affection style from every kitten. Our individual profiles will describe what I observe, so you can consider the kind of companionship that suits you.
What if my kitten needs time to settle?
We can talk about the kitten’s temperament and your home before adoption, then stay in touch as you settle into your new routine. You are welcome to ask questions along the way.
What should I tell you about our family?
Tell me about your children, existing pets, daily rhythm, and the affection you hope to share. A quiet lap companion and an enthusiastic playmate can both be wonderful; I want to understand what feels right for you.

Those are the moments I hope our families get to enjoy. I pray that each kitten finds a home filled with gentleness, patience, and many years of companionship.

A LITTLE CHRISTMAS JOY FROM OUR HOME TO YOURS
Our Christmas Litter: Hawthorn & Cleome’s Final Litter Together
Before you go, I have some very sweet news to share: we have welcomed nine Ragdoll kittens from TICA Champion USAPurrs Hawthorn and Moonseed’s Love-in-a-mist Cleome.
We’re calling these little ones our Christmas litter, with plans for them to go home in December 2026. This is Hawthorn and Cleome’s final litter together before Cleome’s retirement, which makes these babies especially dear to our hearts.
Over the years, we have been so pleased with the health and temperaments of the kittens from this pairing. Raising their babies and helping them become cherished family companions has been such a meaningful part of our Moonseed story.
For now, their world is small and soft. In the weeks ahead, we’ll have the joy of watching nine little personalities begin to unfold.
