Moonseed Ragdolls
Kitten Adoption Information

"Approved Adopters"
Moonseed Kittens are available for adoption to our Approved Adopters
Approved Adopters are those who have filled out a Reservation form and have placed a deposit to join our waitlist.
Here are the steps to become an Approved Adopter:
1. Fill out a kitten Reservation Form >
2. Place a deposit to join our waitlist.
Deposit fees are $450.00 per kitten.
This fee will be deducted from the purchase price.
Before filling out an Adoption Information Form & placing a deposit, I suggest reading about our
Adoption Process below.
Waitlist deposits are non-refundable, but are transferrable from litter to litter.
Adoption Process:
Once the Adopter Application Form and waitlist deposit are received, I will contact you.
I use the adoption information form to understand your needs and desires,
and the type of environment the kitten(s) will eventually transition to.
I will send a Deposit Agreement form that we both will sign & then all we have to do is
hurry up and wait. Approved Adopters are given email updates with available kittens.
Our litters typical have 5-8 kittens available for selection. I do not keep a long waitlist.
Many adopters find the waiting period to be a productive time for researching and purchasing supplies.
I greatly admire the level of consideration, research, and preparation that Moonseed Adopters commit to before
taking home their bundle of fluff.
Once kittens are born, I will send our a litter announcement.
Ragdolls are considered a "slow to mature breed" and so, there will be a degree of patience necessary
while kittens are growing up with mama and siblings before we will be able to choose your kitten.
The wait for a healthy, socialized Ragdoll kitten is always worth it!
Kittens receive exam by veterinarian before going home. They will also be spayed or neutered (always!)
The Veterinarian will examine each kitten and will auscultate the heart for murmurs, listen to lung sounds, palpate
the organs, feel the kitten over and inspect the body and skin condition. The ears, eyes, and the inside of the mouth are inspected.
Our DVM and her assistants take their time with each kitten, and there are a lot of pauses for snuggles involved!
Kittens go home with total body system review by DVM, 2-3 FVRCP vaccines, Rabies vaccine & Certificate,
microchip w/ free registery for new owner, 30 days Trupanion insurance for free,
dewormed, and with flea and tick preventative.
A complete medical history is provided to each adopter for each kitten which includes the review of body systems and
any lab testing, procedures, or DVM notes.
Kittens are presented to Approved Adopters after they have passed their veterinary exams & found to be in good health.
Moonseed kittens are presented to Approved Adopters on our waitlist for consideration when they
reach 5 - 10 weeks of age.
I do my best to match kittens to adopters based upon which homes will be best suited for them.
I keep in mind each kitten's unique personality traits and the Adopter's desires and preferences.
It is my intent to align the purrfect kitten with its ideal family.
It is very important to place a kitten into a home where it will shine.
For instance an outgoing and confident kitten with a gentle disposition and curious nature would do better
in a home with children VS a reserved kitten that prefers the company of one person...
So far, this method has worked out well for adopters and their kittens.
2023 Update: Preference for selection is giving to adopters who adopt a pair of siblings.
I highly suggest every Moonseed adopter consider adopting a pair of Ragdoll kittens.
This is a highly social breed. I have had many return adopters come back for their second, and even third or fourth
Moonseed kitten. There is a reason for this, Ragdolls love company! Some of our adopters adopted a shelter kitten
to grow up with their Moonseed kitten. Whatever works for you and your family, just please know that my lines
(the cats from the pedigrees I work with) really thrive on the company of companion cat(s).
Kittens are evaluated by breeder and priced according to "quality".
A "pet quality kitten" maybe one with a flaw in physical features such as in pattern or type.
A "show quality kitten" is one who's color/pattern/type best meets the Ragdoll breed standard
published by TICA . You can find the Ragdoll breed standard on the "About the Breed" tab.
Our "Pet quality" kittens are gorgeous! They are still full of Ragdoll personality too!
Update 2023: Prices of our kittens range from $3200 - $4500
The price depends on "quality".
Our highest quality show kittens will be $4500.00
My breeding goals center around health and temperament.
I personally prefer the mellow, easy going, passive, floppy, playfully gentle, sweet, playful, and affectionate style of Ragdoll.
I look to Anne Baker's original franchised Ragdoll breed standard regarding "temperament" & I strive to breed that forward.
I personally am not a fan of the "busy" or "active" or "sassy" or "spunky" nor "hyper attached" Ragdoll temperaments.
I do not breed these traits forward.
As I have found out in my research and experience,
the ideal Ragdoll temperament is not universal nor easily accessible in the Ragdoll breeding pool worldwide.
It takes an effort and a dedication to breed for it, and to preserve it.
I place the importance of health and temperament above all else.
Awaiting Your Kitten
After the kitten's adoption contract is signed, I will send you an informational PDF
The PDF is FULL of information that will help you prepare
before your kitten arrives. This includes:
A kitten supply list with click links (food, toys, litter, everything)
A "Go home note", this is a kitten care PDF full of information on Ragdoll care
A reminder to schedule your required veterinary exam (within 72 hours post adoption)
A reference sheet with several resources and cool cat/kitten care links
You can also visit the Supplies Page to help order supplies in advance of kitten's arrival.
Note to adopters: The kitten care PDF will have the most up to date info about what your kitten is eating, etc with click links
so that you can order several weeks in advance!
Because I have taken a lot of time to prepare my Moonseed documents for my adopters,
I will only send these out after contract signing. Which does occur weeks in advance of your kittens
going home.
If you do not yet have an established veterinarian, I recommend finding one well before your kitten
comes home. Vets tend to book out 3-4 weeks in advance for wellness visits these days.
I do my best to time the adoption of the kittens around 7-10 weeks of age so that
owners have several weeks to prepare and schedule wellness exams.
You will have 72 hours upon receiving your kitten to have them examined
by a licensed DVM (VMD in some states), or else the health guarantee for your kitten will be void.
I really appreciate the relationships that I have with my adopting families.
I appreciate that my adopters are compassionate and respectful of my role as a breeder,
and understanding that I have a family, and a life outside to breeding to tend to.
I am not often in front of a computer nor do I often carry my phone with me these days.
I answer non-urgent emails when I can & typically only answer emails from adopters or
those on my waitlist. I do not have a secretary nor staff to help me keep up with communication.
I am first and foremost a caretaker to my family and animals. Most communications go out in group emails.

For new breeders, for following applies:
New breeders must fill out a
breeding partnership

Breeding rights will come with restrictions and a contract allowing co-ownership with Moonseed Ragdolls.
spay and neuter of all kittens born is an absolute must along with other health and wellness protocols.
The breeder must be TICA or CFA registered.
Breeder must have a mentorship with CFA or TICA before applying for a breeding partnership.
If you plan to adopt 2 siblings from a litter
than a discount of $200.00 will be applied to the total cost for both kittens
